Your story is relatable in that people aren't inherently evil, that's why God saw His creation and said "It is good" in the first place, and yet His wrath seems too much. There's an argument for why a good God would allow suffering: Theodicy explains that God is just yet He will do everything to redeem humanity, all without violating our free will. It's when we use our free will against God's will that it has its consequences. You wrote about how God turned the persona's home to Hell, but I think the point is that we are not supposed to see our earthly home as Heaven, or even home to begin with. But in the book of Job, not all of God's wrath is meant to be a punishment for sin, that's why there's the line "The Lord gives and takes away". That's not to say that there is one answer for different kinds of suffering and suffering that seems meaningless.
